The Black Mambas, Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club (AYLC) Boys' U13B team, played Vienna U13B4 closer than the 3-6 final score suggested. Throughout yesterday's game, the momentum kept swinging Arlington's way and it appeared the team was posed for a comeback victory. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. The boys can hold their heads high for a season played better than their 3-6 record indicates. (Photo Gallery)

Big Finish
The Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club (AYLC) Boys' U13B team, the Black Mambas, finished their regular season today with an exciting 10-7 win over Fairfax Police U13B2. Every time Arlington scored, Fairfax answered with a score of their own. After tying the game at 3, Fairfax took a 5-3 lead, but Arlington was up to the task and scored 6 unanswered goals on the strong performance of Chris (#12, 5 goals), Nick (#11, 3 goals) and the net minder, Matthew (#22). What a Difference a Week Can Make
The Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club (AYLC) Boys' U13B team, the Black Mambas, were firing on all cylinders during last week's game; however, yesterday's game was a much different story and the team was forced to play defense most of the game against Southwest U13B2. Fortunately, the team was able to get two goals late in the game (#11 Nick and #12 Chris) to avoid a shutout (final score: 2-9). (Photo Gallery)

Practice Makes Perfect
The Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club (AYLC) Boys' U13B team, the Black Mambas, were able to skillfully execute the lessons stressed during their last practice and secure a 14-0 shutout against the Annandale U13B team yesterday. The drill was run repeatedly in practice--pass to X, cut to the crease, look for the return pass and take a shot on goal--and it showed as it had become second nature to the boys in the game. Robert (#9), Nick (#11) and Henry (#13) each scored hat tricks, and Chris (#12) made several assists from X. (Photo Gallery)

Victory is Sweet
The Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club (AYLC) Boys' U13B team, the Black Mambas, won their first game today in an exciting overtime finish against Braddock Road U13B1. The team let a 4-1 lead slip and had to battle back to tie the game at 5-5 and again at 6-6 to end regulation. After just a few minutes of overtime play, Ben (#18) put the ball past the goalie for the 7-6 win. (Photo Gallery)

It Takes Balls to Play Lacrosse
It has been a long wait, but fortunately lacrosse season is now in full swing. The Arlington Youth Lacrosse Club (AYLC) Boys' U13B team, the Black Mambas, competed in their third game this past Saturday. It was a close and exciting game, and I was fortunate to capture the action. (Photo Gallery)

Osprey Rescue
In a case of being in the right place at the right time, Pat and Sydney were able to document the rescue of an osprey by a Fort Belvoir Fire and Rescue crew. Fishing line was wrapped around one of the osprey's legs preventing it from flying more than a foot from its nest, which was located near the base's indoor archery range. Fortunately, I can report the rescue operation was a success as documented in an article published in the April 11, 2013, edition of the 'The Fort Belvoir Eagle.' (Photo Gallery)
