The Yorktown Patriots won their JV and Varsity football games against the Falls Church Jaguars.
The visiting JV Patriots held a 14-0 lead against the JV Jaguars at the end of the 1st quarter on Thursday night. The Jaguars scored a touchdown with 1:50 remaining in the half (missed PAT) and it appeared the game would be close to start the 2nd half; however, the Patriots moved the length of the field and scored with three seconds remaining in the half (blocked PAT) for a 20-6 lead. Each team scored two touchdowns in the 2nd half for a 33-18 final score in favor of the Patriots. (Game galleries: DMVpix and MaxPreps)
Friday night's game was hosted by Yorktown and they were the first to score (field goal at 5:37 in the 1st quarter). Though the Patriots never relinquished the lead, the Jaguars remained close throughout the game and if not for a penalty that negated a touchdown on a kickoff return just before the end of the 1st half, they may have gone home with the win. The final score was Patriots 17, Jaguars 14. (Game galleries: DMVpix and MaxPreps)
